Bears Record in Games Under 20 Degrees
"Bear Weather" – Myth, Legend, or Just Hypothermia?
We love to brag about "Bear Weather." We put on our Ditka sweaters, refuse to wear sleeves, and pretend the wind off Lake Michigan is a "light breeze." But does the cold actually help us?
In games where the thermometer dips below 20°F, the Bears are remarkably average. Across their most historically "frozen" games, Chicago holds a roughly .500 record (6-6). It turns out that when it’s 8 degrees outside, the football is a literal brick for both teams.
| Temp | Opponent | Result | Year |
| 3°F | Packers | W 23-21 | 1983 |
| 8°F | Cowboys | W 45-28 | 2013 |
| 8°F | Browns | W 31-3 | 2025 |
| 9°F | Bills | L 13-35 | 2022 |
| 11°F | Packers | L 27-30 | 2016 |
The Takeaway: "Bear Weather" only works if we have a run game. In 2025, Caleb Williams proved he could throw a frozen pigskin, which bodes well for our shivering future.
